Most NGOs tend to focus their limited resources on their core work and pay less attention to examining their
internal operations and capacity with the view to making themselves more efficient and effective. Efficiency
translates into being able to more with limited resources - more programs, greater reach, better resource use.
Effectiveness ensures that programs meet goals and are indeed impacting people's lives in a sustained manner.
Given their limited resources, NGO's can ill-afford the services of management consulting firms to help them
transform into high-performing organizations.
There is a large pool of NRIs in the US (and elsewhere) who have extensive and proven experience in business
and technology, built over the past 25-30 years of living and working with in the US. They:
- Have worked for large and small companies and have reached key senior management positions
- Many have been successful entrepreneurs in business, technology and other areas
- Have established themselves as solid professionals in their chosen fields
- Bring proven expertise in management, planning, finance, operations, technology and other disciplines
Having established full-filling professional, family and social lives in the USA, many want to reconnect with India
by spending extended periods of time back home. They want to make these sojourns in India more meaningful
by 'giving back' to their communities, actively participating in social programs.
ENCorps plans to leverage this population, with the skills and the desire, to volunteer their professional skills and
experience to help NGOs enhance their efficiency and effectiveness. They will work on specific short-term
projects in India, facilitated by ENCorps.
The consulting services will be provided free to the NGOs by the volunteer professionals. The NGOs will pay a
nominal fee for each project, to cover ENCorps' administrative costs. Many NGOs are willing to cover some local
travel/out of pocket expenses. ENCorps will also contribute towards the member volunteers' travel and other out-
of-pocket expenses incurred while working on ENCorps projects.
